Doctoral student handbooks and student unions

General information and handbooks

Once you have started as a doctoral student there are a number of handbooks and sources of information that can come in useful.

You can find general information on postgraduate studies on the websites of Lund University and the Faculty of Science as well as the Swedish Higher Education Authority.

The Biology Doctoral Student Council (BDR) has written a guide for new doctoral students (pdf; 555 kB; new tab). It contains tips and advice on many aspects of living in Sweden, at Lund University and the Department of Biology.

Student unions

There are many unions for doctoral students. They can help you with many different things, such as contact with other doctoral students. At the Department of Biology, the doctoral students are represented through the Biology Doctoral Student Council (BDR). At the University level, there is Lund Doctoral Students’ Union and within the faculty, there is the Science Doctoral Student Council (NDR). At Lund University there is also a Doctoral Student Representative.
