Vincenzo Ellis

Postdoctoral fellow | PhD

My primary research interests involve understanding the evolution and ecology of host-pathogen interactions. My doctoral work focused on the distributions of avian malaria parasites across eastern North America and on the physiological impact of those parasites on their hosts. I am also broadly interested in community ecology and the distributions of species over space and time.

My postdoctoral project is on the evolution of host specificity in avian malaria parasites and is funded by the Tryggers Foundation. I will use genomic techniques to generate data for phylogenetic analysis of these parasites. I will then use the resulting phylogenetic hypothesis to model the evolution of host specificity.
