Tobias Hartman

Guest Researcher

I am a Master's student from the Netherlands, visiting the Lund University for the academic year 2017/2018. I received a Biology BSc (2013-2016) from the University of Leiden and I am currently doing the “Evolution, Biodiversity and Conservation” Master's specialisation, also at the University of Leiden. My research interests mostly include evolutionary biology, taxonomy and systematics.

In the past, I have studied haplolepideous mosses (Dicranidae) for my BSc thesis, which included a phylogenetic revision of the Dicranellaceae based on several genetic markers. For my Master’s I have studied a species complex of Stigmella leaf-miners (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) to try to separate genetically different lineages using the morphological features of their genitalia with the help of morphometrics.

Currently, I am working with Hamid Ghanavi and Niklas Wahlberg on a multiplex PCR approach to obtain more data necessary to resolve relationships of the noctuid family Erebidae.
