Effects of telomere dynamics and telomerase activity on life history tradeoffs
In this project we study how telomere dynamics and telomerase activity act as a limitation in avian life-histories. It has been hypothesised that telomere dynamics is one of the major trade-offs in life-history ecology. In this project we test this experimentally by manipulating the rearing environment for birds to study how this affects the telomere dynamics. We also perform more direct experiment where we manipulate the activity of telomerase, thereby stimulating telomere growth.
