Annual meetings

GENECO arranges two annual meetings, a winter and a summer meeting, on selected topics where you get the opportunity to interact with invited speakers, gain novel skills and learn more about career possibilities inside and outside Academia. We have been very fortunate and have been able to attract top-ranked international researchers within genomic ecology to these meetings.

The summer meetings are held at the end of the summer and they are 1.5-day events inclusive of an overnight stay.

The winter meetings are held in Lund at the beginning of February and they are single-day events.

Summer meeting 2022

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Geneco Summer meeting will be held at Åkersbergs Stiftsgård on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 August and the morning of Thursday 1 September.

We have four exciting invited speakers lined up:

  • Dr Alex Cagan from the Wellcome Sanger Institute in the UK: “The Impossibility of Whales: What comparative studies of somatic mutation across species can tell us about the evolution of cancer and ageing”
  • Dr Jaelle Brealey from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Trondheim: “Holomuseomics: what past and present microbiomes can tell us about the ecology and evolution of their host organisms”
  • Dr Jon Jerlström-Hultqvist from the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Uppsala University: "Long-read metagenomics as a tool to understand symbiosis"
  • Dr Laura Parducci from the Department of Ecology and Genetics, Uppsala University will talk about paleo-genomics of trees (title TBA)

We will also be including Geneco PhD students' talks in this year’s summer meeting as well as a student poster session. So there are plenty of presentation opportunities for PhD students.
