To students admitted to the Master’s programme in Biology with specialization in Conservation Biology, 120 cr, autumn 2020

Dear Student

I am your study advisor and I wish you warmly welcome to Lund!

Programme information

The autumn term starts the 31’st of August 2020. The introduction meeting on the 31’st of August is compulsory!

Select courses for the autumn term and make a preliminary course of study

During the first period (August 31 – October 30) you take BIOR69 Population and Community and Ecology  You are automatically admitted to those courses. If you have taken a similar course previously, please contact me about this.
In the second period (November 2 – Jan. 15, with winter break; Dec. 19 – Jan 6) you will take an optional course for instance BIOR81 Evolutionary Animal Ecology or Modelling in Biological Systems (BIOS13) plus Processing and Analysis of Biological Data (BIOS14) . There are also other options, Please look on the course overview. You have to decide which one latest at the arrival in August, but if you already know which course you want to take, please let me know.

At Biology with specialization in Conservation Biology you find information about the recommended courses and the degree requirements for the programme. Please find a course overview for master's students in Biology on relevant courses (also outside the Biological field)  and in which period they are offer. Make a preliminary personal study plan for the autumn 2020 and spring 2021 (and autumn 2021 if you want) and write back for advise on your plan. Choose among the advanced level courses that you find in the course overview. You also have the option to take courses from other departments at Lund University, as 30 credits are optional, For instance GIS. Some students also include courser from other universities, contact me for information. Not everything needs to be decided now, but is is always good to have a plan. Please note that some courses might have other prerequisites than the master’s programme in Animal Ecology!

The courses

The schedule for a specific course will be available on the course web-pages around 5 weeks before the courses start. You always find the old schedule to look at until the current one has been published. Please note that most courses have compulsory activities almost every day. Do not plan e.g. travelling on “school days” because if you miss a compulsory activity, without a legitimate reason, you may not be able to complete the course until the following year.  You must always attend the first day of the courses you are accepted for.
