151 alumni from the Master´s Programme in Biology (constituting 82% of all graduates from 2011-14) were included in the investigation. 54% of those were international students.
46% of the alumni had continued to a PhD-position (65% in Sweden and 35% in other countries). 41% had relevant work (i.e. within the biology sector) and 7% had other employments outside the sectors of biology/molecular biology/bioinformatics. Finally, 5% had chosen further education (teacher, doctor etc.) and only 1% were unemployed.
The 72 alumni working had employments distributed over several different sectors. 25 % were employed at universities, e.g. as research assistants, and 23 % were working for the government or municipalities. Another 13 % had employment within the private sector and 8 % were working as teachers. Finally, 13% had other jobs (not directly related to biology). Below you can find examples of positions and work places of our former Biology students.
This investigation was performed in by Christina Ledje and Lotta Persmark, Study Coordinators at the Department of Biology, Lund University.
An identical investigation covering the Master´s students who graduated 2015-2017 is underway and seem to generate the similar positive results.
