Qian Hu

PhD-student half-way around our lovely planet
In brief, lucky is mine to own the experience as a student at Lund and ultimate thanks and respects express to the old university.

Took my Bachelor’s in Aquatic Animals Science and Technology at Shanghai Ocean University in 2009

After my education at Lund University, with a master degree in Aquatic Ecology, I travelled half-way around our lovely planet to New Zealand, to do a P.hD. project at the Waterways Centre, at Univeristy of Canterbury. The research project helps to guide revegetation of a large lagoon, Lake Ellesmere/Te Waihora, to improve its water quality.

The education at Lund, without question, laid a solid foundation, both in knowledge and in research experience, for my current research. And it is a milestone in my career as a limnologist. I still remember the well-designed course trajectory, one course at a time that allowed me to have a complete concentration, and step by step as time progresses that gradually improved mine understandings. Much less to mention the lovely lecturers I met in every course, their patience to hear and answer my questions given my limited intelligibility in the language in particular.

Besides the education, my life at Lund is pleasant and comfortable. The chances of meeting people of different cultures, the cosiness of the student accommodations in contrast to the long winters, and the beautiful town both lively and tranquil, compose the invaluable memory in my life.

In brief, lucky is mine to own the experience as a student at Lund and ultimate thanks and respects express to the old university.
