Travel Grants

All Geneco PhD-students are offered a travel grant to enable a research stay at another laboratory for at least one month. The aims with the grants are to increase mobility of the PhD-students, enlarge their network and to give them valuable insights into research at other places than the home lab. GENECO Travel Grants

The main aim of these travel grants is to increase the research mobility of GENECO PhD-students. A travel grant supports a research stay at other laboratories (not conferences) with the purpose to perform research, which will represent a part of the PhD project.

Each GENECO PhD student is granted at least one travel grant during his/her enrollment in Geneco, given a well-motivated application.

The research visit should last between 1 and 3 months and it could be abroad or within Sweden.

The travel grant covers travel costs and accommodation (bench-fees are not included). It is possible to add costs for accommodation / travelling for family members (children below 18, and/or adult accompanying young children) or for the several travels home during the research visit for students with young children. The accommodation cost should not exceed 10.000 SEK / month.

The total budget of the application should be between 15.000 – 40.000 SEK.

The application should include:

  1. a project description and the purpose of the research visit (summarized on one A4 page), signed by the applicant and his/her supervisor,
  2. invitation letter from the host laboratory
  3. budget specifying the cost items

The application can be submitted at any time to GENECO, Helena Westerdahl Helena [dot] Westerdahl [at] biol [dot] lu [dot] se
