Open Access

Open access (OA) publishing means that research results are published in such a way that they are freely accessible online. There are two ways to approach OA: the “golden road” by publishing in open access journals, and the “green road” by depositing a copy of an article in an open access repository, also known as self-archiving. In Lund University’s policy on publishing, researchers are encouraged to publish OA as much as possible in order to increase research visibility, use and impact. Many of the large research funders also require that research results be published so that they are freely accessible to everyone.

Financial support for OA publishing

As a corresponding author affiliated with LU you can get different kinds of financial support from the university to publish Open Access. If you choose a journal that is completely Open Access, you will as a general rule get 50% of the publishing costs paid (at the moment it is 100%!). Apply for the subsidy with this form:

In addition, the university has deals with several publishers wich means that you don't have to pay any publishing costs at all, for example Springer, Elsevier, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Wiley and Taylor & Francis. Read more about the publishing deals here:
